Chalo Amsterdam !

A lot has been written about the manner in which 12 Indian citizens have been detained by the sky marshals aboard an American carrier. Till now this blog has been spared of my opinions on the various aspects of our political spectrum. As a begining this is my take on a very current issue.

What caused all the commotion was a blatant disregard for rules. As per the spokesperson of the Schipol airport the crew had raised the alarm after the men handed each other mobile phones and laptops during the flight and refused to follow their instructions. 12 passengers were seen acting oddly in a way that concerned other passengers. The 12 pulled out cell phones during the flight and would not remain seated when the fasten seatbelt light was on.

Now, this kind of a behaviour would not cause any ripples in an Indian carrier as disregard for rules is ingrained uniformly across both the authorities and the general public. It was merely the knee jerk response of an overzealous cabin crew which caused them to press the panic button. As Kipling says "East is East, West is West and ne'er shall the twain meet" (not that I am a fan of Kipling, but he has his moments).

What I dont understand is, Why is the Indian Govt targeting the Dutch govt instead of the US carrier and US sky marshals ?
